Throughout the Danforth you will come across some remarkable homes. There are houses that can arouse anyone's interest. The style of the Danforth has acquired the name "Do it Yourself". This name derives from when the wave of renovation took place on the Danforth.

Originally most of the houses were poorly taken care of. Many immigrants that moved into the area had very little money and the deterioration of their property persisted. But around the end of the 20th century, the wave occurred. Many people began transforming their properties with what ever they could afford. Gardens began springing up everywhere, because the soil that is beneath the Danforth used to be Toronto's farm lands.

Take a walk around the Danforth and see its homes. Keep in mind that only 50 years ago, these homes were nothing like they were today.
